It is very sad and disappointing to me that African Americans had to fight just to get a right that should be equally distributed to everyone. I cannot understand why the right to vote would have been held back from a group of people just because of their skin color. To me, that has nothing to do with people's judgment of choosing a sufficient leader. I know many people that aren't white who have better judgment skills than some white other white people. I also know a lot of non- white people who are smarter than white people around them.
In my opinion we have come very far. Bit there are still racist elements in politics. It is almost unbelievable that we didn't have an African- American president until 2008. The rights of African Americans should have been fair from the beginning. It is a good thing that he is president but, in my opinion we should have had presidents of different races for a long time.

School Of The Artistic, Acedemic, Humanistic Success?
OUR MISSION IS STUDENT SUCCESS... ACADEMIC, ARTISTIC, AND HUMANISTIC.
The quote portrays that the School Of The Arts is a very goal oriented school with hard- working students. It portrays that this school is driven and successful. Parts of this are true and some aren't as well.
I am under the impression from what others have told me, as I have been since late elementary school, that School Of The Arts offers a superior city school education and a more peaceful learning place. From my years here I have observed that, in my opinion it is a more peaceful environment to learn in. I am pretty sure there is less fights, threats, and unsafe student activities. But, I do not believe that the art majors offer anything extra- special. In fact, I could do with out them. The majors offered at School Of The Arts are creative writing, vocal, piano, instrumental, theater technology, visual arts, dance, and drama. I am currently a creative writing major and I don't feel that since I have entered this Major here that my artistic mind has been incredibly expanded. I actually feel like having two forty minute periods a day in my major has discouraged me to ever be in the field of anything pertaining to creative writing. I used to enjoy creatively writing on occasion when it was assigned to me and I thought I was pretty okay at it. But, being made to do it everyday has presented an incredible work load for me. A work load that I do not appreciate and have grown to resent.
Another addition to my workload is my academic courses. I have never been educated at another high school but I am pretty sure I could get the education I receive here form another building. Teachers are the ones who provide the students with the tools to achieve "academic success." And there is no way to know if the best teachers are being hired at this school or another. I do feel that my education is up to par, but I cannot be sure if it meets the stereotype of School Of The Arts being better than other city schools.
As far as School Of The Arts offering humanistic success i do not even know what that word means so that can tell you how successful they are with that one.

Your Mom Has Facebook?!
I used to be able to through the statement, "I would be so creeped out if my mother had Facebook," right into normal conversation with my peers. Lately, it seems that I have to watch when I use that statement because it has become a growing movement that middle- aged women with children are finding it acceptable and even normal to get their own Facebook account. There are a few things that would bother me if I was one of those kids. First, that my mom could have access to see whatever I posted on the internet site. Those things are sometimes meant for other kids my age and my mom wouldn't understand them. That would just be another things that she would urge me to tell her about. Also, that she most likely would not understand how the site works and would therefor ask fo rmy assistance. When I hear that other kids parents have Facebook a part of me feels bad for them and i always have to wonder if their parents are just trying to keep tabs on them.

What I Spend My Money On
I am fifteen and i have recently started working at a corner store in my neighborhood. I work about twenty to twenty- five hours a week for minimum wage. I get paid every two weeks. My paycheck ends up being between one- hundred and two- hundred and fifty dollars. When I first started this position I was ecstatic to be receiving this amount of money so often. It was something that my parents would never have offered to me at a steady rate for my own personal expenses. But what I didn't know is that when you earn money there's a lot more that comes with it then just careless spending.
Once i attained a steady paycheck my parents saw no reason to lend me money. They still purchased all my food and gave me a roof to live under, but all of my personal expenses that were once taken care of for me were up to me. I still put money in a savings account for college and the rest was left for me. Some people might think that it is unfortunate that I have to use all my own money. But since there is no supervision over what I am spending it on, it is actually a very good thing... For me at least.
I spend the majority of my money on clothing. Articles that I once would have had to beg my mother to purchase for me for a special occasion are now in my closet without a second thought. My closet has expanded by at least half its size. I appreciated very much when my mother used to buy me clothes if I asked but it is a much better feeling to blow my cash and splurge on items without an adult conscience to damper the mood. A lot of my money is also spent on food. I will go out to eat with my friends, or go to the store and get junk food. I will sometimes pay for others too.
It is a very freeing feeling to be able ot purchase my own things and enjoy what I worked for.
